Special Projects
Jones and Co. Interior Design in partnership with Susan Maclaren Interior
Design was selected as one of eight design teams to be featured in the At
Home In The City Project in 1998. This was a joint fund raising project of
the Interior Designers Institute of B.C. (IDIBC), and the Canadian Diabetes
Association (CDA). Each of eight design teams were given an opportunity to
showcase their work by designing a 1400 sq. ft. townhome located in the
heart of Vancouver. These showsuites were open to the public and proceeds
raised from the event were given to the CDA's summer camp for kids program,
and the IDIBC.

The design concept for the showsuite drew its inspiration from nature and
sought to capture the spirit of the west coast through its use of natural
materials and earthy textures. The showsuite was unique in that it featured
a contemporary look that was warm and inviting with distinctive splashes
of bold color in the artwork and furnishings. A fireplace of stacked river
rock with a concrete hearth embedded with pebbles, found on a west coast
beach, captured the essence of the west coast, and provided the focal point
for the open living spaces around it.
